According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday night in Bakersfield. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the pedestrian accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Union Avenue, near 7th Street. Two pedestrians entered the roadway from the centre median, outside the crosswalk. They walked right into the path of a northbound vehicle. The vehicle struck the pedestrians.
Out of the two pedestrians, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The man was hospitalized sustaining serious injuries. Insights into the identity of the deceased woman remain unknown.
The crash continues to be investigated by the BPD. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
