According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in Sunnyvale. Officials confirmed that 1 person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred at Walgreens at South Sunnyvale Avenue and Old San Francisco Road. A moving vehicle crashed into a drugstore. The vehicle was subsequently engulfed in flames.
The driver of the vehicle could not be extricated from inside, due to the untenable fire conditions. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
The two passengers were able to get out of the vehicle and were rushed to a hospital sustaining severe injuries. Speed and influence of alcohol are being suspected as causes of the wreck.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
