According to the Siskiyou County Police Department, a fatal crash was reported on Wednesday in Siskiyou County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident. Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Highway 97 south of Dorris.
The driver of a pickup truck crossed into the opposite side and hit an oncoming “big rig”. A passenger in the truck was ejected from inside and pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
The driver was identified as 52-year-old Dawson Yang. Other details pertaining to the accident including the identity of the deceased passenger remain unknown.
The cause of the accident is yet to be identified. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. The crash continues to be investigated by the SCPD.
