According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Wednesday in Lynwood.

Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.

Authorities stated that the collision occurred near Rosecrans Avenue.

The person involved in the wreck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officials reported that the collision was due to traffic in the area.

No other information including the identity of the deceased person or the vehicles involved has been revealed yet.

Three lanes in the southbound freeway were closed in the area for investigation.

The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.

It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
