A tragic bicycle accident occurred in Beaumont on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of a bicyclist after being struck by a vehicle on M. L. King Jr. Parkway. According to a news release from the Beaumont Police, the man was riding a bicycle west on Crockett St.
When he attempted to cross M. L. King Jr. Parkway, he was hit by a 2003 GMC traveling south on MLK. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by police. His identity is being withheld until his immediate family has been notified.
The community mourns the loss of life in this fatal crash, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the cause. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
