One person was killed following a traffic collision Tuesday morning on the Loop 202 Santan freeway westbound.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place just after 3 a.m. The early reports showed that a car was traveling westbound on the Loop 202 when it collided with the impact attenuator head-on. The crash caused the vehicle to spin and catch fire.
The vehicle was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene. The driver died as a result of the accident. No other vehicles or people were involved in the wreck. Officials believe speed may be a factor in the collision. The Loop 202 Santan westbound was shut down at the I-10 but has since reopened. No other details are available.
An investigation is underway.
