1 person killed, another hospitalized following a traffic accident in central Austin (Austin, TX)

On Monday morning, one person was killed while another suffered injuries after a crash in central Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal traffic collision took place in the 2600 block of MoPac Expressway northbound at about 5:46 a.m. That is near Northwood Road. One person was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Emergency personnel transported another person to the hospital with minimal, non-fatal injuries.

Responders previously closed all lanes except the far right one of MoPac northbound. All general lanes were back open as of 10:51 a.m., but the express lane was still closed. The events that have led up to the accident remain unknown at this time. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
