On Thursday afternoon, a head-on collision on Fiddyment Road claimed the life of one person and injured another.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place on September 23 on Fiddyment Road, south of Sunset Boulevard at around 3:30 p.m. The California Highway Patrol actively responded to the scene and, on arrival, confirmed that a Honda and a semi-truck were involved in the collision.
The preliminary reports showed that the Honda driver was heading southbound on Fiddyment when he failed to maintain control of their vehicle. Just then, the vehicle veered into the path of an oncoming semi-truck, resulting in the head-on crash.
Emergency personnel freed the Honda driver and his passenger, both men, from the wreckage. The reports further revealed that that both of them were unresponsive when they were rushed to a hospital. The driver of the Honda later died from his injuries.
On the other hand, the driver of the semi-truck reportedly did not receive any injuries following the crash. Authorities shut down Fiddyment Road in both directions while crews worked at the scene. Officers said that drugs might have played a part in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
