The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident in Ventura County on Friday night. The accident occurred on State Route 1, just south of Las Posas Road at around 4:35 p.m.
According to the officials, three vehicles were involved in the collision. A Ford truck was travelling north while a BMW and a Honda were travelling south. For an unknown reason, the BMW crossed over into the northbound lanes and crashed into the Ford. This wreck made its way into the southbound lanes where the Honda collided with it.
The driver of the BMW was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. Five of the other people involved in the crash incurred injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
