The Surprise Police Department reported a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday.
The accident occurred at Reems and Greenway roads near Valley Vista High School in the evening.
According to the officials, a car had smashed into a tree.
There were a total of four occupants in the car. Two of them had to be extracted from the car and were rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition. Officials late confirmed that one of them succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The other two occupants were also taken to a hospital but with non-life-threatening injuries.
The identities of those involved have not been disclosed.
The fatal accident is still being investigated.
The officials report that they believe speed to have been a factor in the accident as there were a lot of skid marks in the area before the tree.
There are no other details available at the moment.
