1 person killed after an auto-pedestrian crash on South Congress (Austin, TX)

One person died after getting struck by a vehicle Tuesday night on South Congress.

Paramedics actively responded to the 5900 block of S. Congress Ave., just after 8 p.m. on reports of an auto-pedestrian collision. On arrival, EMS performed CPR, but the adult victim died of their injuries at the scene. It is not unknown it the involved driver remained at the scene or not after hitting the pedestrian.

ATCEMS said that the motorists should expect road closures and delays in the area as crews work at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
