On Thursday, one person died following a wrong-way collision in Reno.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place at about 12:06 p.m. The early reports showed that a Chevy Suburban going north on Lemmon Drive went into the southbound lanes and crashed into a car going in the correct lane heading south.

The driver of that car died of their injuries after the collision. The wrong way driver was taken to Renown with only minimal injuries. Officers believe that speed or substance use did not contribute to the accident. The area of Lemmon Drive and Chickadee Drive was shut down for just over five hours as crews worked at the scene.

It was back open to traffic at 5:15 p.m. The identities of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. According to the officials, traffic is flowing again on Lemmon Drive after an hours-long closure. No further details were provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
