1 person killed after a three-vehicle wreck in northwest Austin (Austin, TX)

One person was killed following a wreck Wednesday morning in northwest Austin.

Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) stated at 8:05 a.m. that medics were reporting a three-vehicle pile-up on RM 2222, involving at least two patients and an entrapment. At 8:12 a.m., ATCEMS confirmed that one adult patient was pronounced dead at the scene.

The patient that was trapped was removed from their vehicle and a third adult patient was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with minor, non-critical injuries. The Austin Transportation Department said that as of 8:15 a.m., all lanes are closed down on RM 2222 east of Loop 360. Drivers should anticipate delays and avoid the affected area if possible. No other details are available.

An investigation is underway.
