1 person killed after a single-car crash in Riverside (Riverside, CA)

On Sunday morning, one person died following a single-vehicle accident in Riverside.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 4:58 a.m. on Van Buren Boulevard and Duncan Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a northbound black Kia failed to maintain control of the car for undetermined reasons. After that, the car hit a power pole before coming to a stop in a field.

The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene by the officials. According to the officials, a passenger of the vehicle left the scene after the collision. Officials shut down Northbound Van Buren Boulevard between Challen Avenue and Duncan Avenue for some time as crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
