On Tuesday night, one person was killed and seven others received injuries following a traffic accident in Opelousas.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Railroad and Vine Street, which is currently blocked to traffic. The early reports showed that one male adult sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Several people in two vehicles incurred serious to moderate injuries and were transported to local hospitals. Police are advising the public to avoid the affected area. The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
