The Police department reported a motor-vehicle accident in north of Alamogordo.
The crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Jesus Montoya.
Officials said Montoya got out of the truck and was walking in the ditch when a woman drove up.
She swerved to avoid the crash but hit Montoya.
Montoya was taken to the hospital and where he later died.
The woman was not injured.
The fatal crash is still under investigation by the New Mexico state Police.
No other additional information regarding the accident was provided by the officers.
