The accident occurred on the northbound lanes of Highway 101, near Santa Monica Road. It happened at around 1:47 p.m.
According to the officials, a dog ran away from its owner and onto the road. Three vehicles crashed into the center divider while trying to avoid the dog.
There was one minor injury reported in the accident.
The officials have not disclosed the identity of the injured person. They were treated at the scene and released.
One of the vehicles incurred minor damage while the other two were moderately damaged.
