The Helen Woodward Animal Center reported a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday.
The accident occurred on a highway in Longview, Texas just after 12:30 a.m.
According to the staff, a truck carrying 40 puppies had crashed and flipped on its side.
The truck had struck a center divider on the highway and flipped onto its side before skidding across the road. The driver of the vehicle incurred minor injuries.
The identity of the driver has not been disclosed.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated by the police.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
There are no other details pertaining to the crash that are available at this time.
