1 person injured after an 18-wheeler fell into a hole at construction site in west Houston (Houston, TX)

At least one person suffered injuries after an 18-wheeler went into a hole at a construction site in west Houston.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle wreck took place on Eldridge, just south of the Katy Freeway. The preliminary reports showed that a waste management truck was traveling southbound on Eldridge, when the driver informed the officers about a vehicle in front of them.

The driver of the semi said they could either strike the car or go through the construction zone. At that time, the driver decided not to collide with the car and went through the construction zone, where the semi fell nose-first into the 20 to 30 feet deep hole.

The truck driver was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. According to the officials, the hole the truck went into is part of the waste management flood control system, but the truck was not part of the construction crew. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under investigation.
