On Monday afternoon, one person was airlifted after the vehicle he was in traveled off State Route 7 and went down an embankment near Eatonville.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at Petersen Road East a little before 5 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that a vehicle slid 40 feet down the embankment, forcing crews to shut down the road for four hours as they worked to rescue the driver. Emergency responders called it a high-angle rescue.
Reports further added that the 37-year-old man was heading northbound on SR 7 when the vehicle drifted off the road. The man was not buckled up at the time of the accident. The driver was extricated from the vehicle before 8 p.m. and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
