On Monday, one person suffered serious injuries after a single-vehicle accident in Northwest Austin.

As per the initial information, the incident took place a little before 9 p.m. on US 183 at 620 and State Highway 45. The preliminary investigation indicated that a vehicle plunged off the overpass and fell about a hundred feet down. On arrival, emergency responders found an adult trapped inside the vehicle.

Rescuers extricated the victim and rushed them to a local hospital with critical injuries. The events that have led up to the crash remain unknown at this time. The identity of the victim remains unknown.

An investigation is ongoing.
