1 person injured after a two-vehicle crash in Lynnwood (Lynnwood, WA)

On Tuesday morning, one person suffered serious injuries following a traffic collision in Lynnwood.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the 5800 block of 196th Street Southwest after getting reports of a two-vehicle crash. The early reports indicated that a 56-year-old man ignored a red light while traveling west on 196th Street Southwest and his SUV crashed into another vehicle that was making a left turn onto Scriber Lake Road.

On arrival, paramedics rushed the man to Harborview Medical Center with a serious head injury. The driver of the other vehicle, a 53-year-old woman, remained unharmed in the accident. Both vehicles were totaled due to the collision. Reports further added that the suspect driver hit a traffic light pole, resulting in some structural damage.

The man was not under the influence at the time of the crash. Westbound lanes of 196th Street Southwest were shut down for about an hour as crews worked at the scene, but are now back open. No other details are immediately available.

The incident remains under investigation.
