A speeding car without headlights on slammed into a statue Wednesday night on Belle Isle.
As per the initial information, the fiery accident took place at the intersection of Belle Isle Central and Inselruhe Avenue. The early reports indicated that a male driver was pulled out of the sedan before it burst into flames, assisted by DNR conservation officers who saw the crash.
DNR officers performed CPR on the victim prior to the arrival of EMS. The extent of injuries sustained by the driver remains unknown at this time. Michigan State Police units from Metro South are looking into the accident. No other details are provided.
