On Wednesday, one person suffered critical injuries following a traffic collision near Spanaway.
As per the initial information, the three-vehicle pile-up took place at Spanaway Loop Road South and 138th Street South. The early reports indicated that five people were involved in the accident and two patients were rescued from vehicles by emergency responders.
Paramedics rushed one victim to the hospital with critical injuries. Two others were also taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Other patients were provided medical aid at the scene. Reports further stated that one of the involved drivers was evaluated for impairment.
Spanaway Loop Road South was shut down from Military Road South to 116th Street South as crews worked at the scene. Officers asked the motorists to use alternate routes. Pierce County deputies blocked approximately two miles of road during their response. No other details are available.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
