On Thursday morning, one person was hurt after an 18-wheeler plunged down an interstate embankment in Rayne.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place at about 11:30 a.m. on I-10 East. The preliminary investigation showed that the 18-wheeler was going on the interstate when it swerved off the roadway for undetermined reasons. Reports indicated that the big rig sped down an embankment and crossed The Boulevard.
The semi finally stopped on private property and got engulfed in flames. On arrival, firefighters extinguished the flames. The driver incurred only minimal injuries in the accident. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
