On late Monday evening, one person suffered minimal injuries following a fiery crash in the Mission Valley area.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place at about 10:42 p.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 8, near the transition to I-805. The early reports showed that one of the cars went down an embankment and into a ditch following the collision. The car caught fire shortly after, and the driver was able to escape before the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.
On arrival, firefighters extinguished the car fire before it spread to nearby brush. The driver who got out of the burning vehicle was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle remained uninjured. No other details are immediately available.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
