1 person hurt after a crash in Port Orchard involving a Kitsap Transit bus (Port Orchard, WA)

One person was hurt after a Kitsap Transit bus veered off Bay Street and drove onto the Bay Street Pedestrian Path Wednesday evening, causing damage to 11 vehicles as it crashed through the Port Orchard Ford dealership.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision was reported at 6:34 p.m. in Port Orchard. The driver, who was believed to have experienced a medical emergency, was transported to the hospital. There was no one else on the bus at the time of the accident. The driver was treated and released from the hospital.

The bus was stopped from plunging into Sinclar Inlet by a fence on the pathway. The incident caused damage to the path. The crash also caused fairly significant amount of damage to the stock of the Ford dealership. The inertia of the bus caused it to go farther than a smaller-sized vehicle. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
