1 person hospitalized following a wrong-way crash on Loop 202; impairment believed to be involved (Phoenix, AZ)

One person was hospitalized following a wrong-way crash late Monday evening on Loop 202.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place on Loop 202 near Vee Quiva Way just before 11:50 p.m. The early reports showed that the wrong-way motorist was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Loop 202 near Vee Quiva Way just before 11:50 p.m. when their vehicle collided with a semi-truck.

The driver, who had not been identified as of Tuesday afternoon, was transported to the hospital for minimal injuries and investigated for impairment, which is suspected to be a factor in the collision. The driver of the semi-truck incurred minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. No other information is available.

An investigation is ongoing.
