One person was hospitalized following a traffic collision Tuesday afternoon in Santa Rosa.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place at about 3:39 p.m. on Lavell Road and Mark West Springs Road. The preliminary reports showed that a pickup truck collided with a Rincon Valley Union School District bus.

There were reportedly nine students in the bus who were on their way to a basketball game. The reports further stated that the driver of bus swerved left on Lavell Road, when a pickup approached in the right lane despite stopped traffic.

At that point of time, the Chevrolet Colorado pickup driven by a man hit the right front side of the bus. No students of the Spring Valley Middle School were injured in the crash. The female driver of the bus incurred only minor injuries. On arrival, first responders took her to a hospital as a precautionary measure.

The bus and the truck had minor damage due to the collision. The driver of the pickup felt sore but did not need to be hospitalized. The identities of the motorist have not been released at this time. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
