One person was hospitalized after a wreck Wednesday in Fresno.
As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place at about 11:55 a.m. on Highway 99 and Manning Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that a big rig hauling double trailers filled with river rock was traveling south when, for unknown reasons, it lost control and collided with the yellow attenuators, and flipped over just beneath Manning Avenue.
An Amazon truck driver heading behind the big rig tried to stop, but ended up hitting the back of the trailers. The big rig driver was trapped inside due to the impact. On arrival, emergency crews rescued and rushed the driver to the Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver of the Amazon truck incurred only minor injuries. The incident caused a traffic backup in both directions of the highway at Manning Avenue. Both lanes were back open later. No other details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
