On Monday, 1 person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries following a rollover accident on I-8.
The initial reports showed that emergency crews utilized the Jaws of Life to extricate a man who was pinned in the rolled over vehicle after spending 20 minutes. The man was stuck in the wreckage after his SUV flipped over on eastbound Interstate 8, west of Dunbar Lane, just after midnight. The driver reportedly crashed into the back of a dump truck, causing the SUV to overturn.
Firefighters employed the Jaws of Life to cut the roof off of the vehicle, rescuing the man after about 20 minutes. The driver was then immediately taken to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition. CHP shut down the eastbound lanes of I-8 for around 30 minutes during the rescue efforts. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
