1 person hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash in Wapato (Wapato, WA)

On Sunday, one person suffered injuries following a street racing crash in Wapato.

As per the initial information, the hit-and-run collision took place shortly before 6 p.m. on SR 97 just south of Jones road, which is approximately half a mile north of Wapato. The early reports revealed that two drivers were racing when one of them failed to maintain control of their vehicle and crashed into the other.

Reports further added that both vehicles were heading North on SR 97 just south of Jones road. On arrival, emergency crews transported one passenger to Yakima Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver and other passenger did not receive any injuries as a result of the crash.

The driver that caused the accident drove off after the collision. Officials managed to get the hit-and-run driver’s license plate. They said that they would contact the register owner to locate the driver. It is unknown if the drivers knew each other. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under active review.
