1 person hospitalized after a car slams into a Seaport Village sign; driver sought (San Diego, CA)

On Thursday, one person suffered injuries after a car crashed into a Seaport Village sign while the driver ran away from the scene on foot.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to Seaport Village off Harbor Drive at about 12:45 a.m. after getting reports of a hit-and-run accident. On arrival, responders found the shopping/dining complex’s large welcome sign knocked down, multiple smashed plants and rocks, and damage to exit gates. The suspect’s white car had damage to its front and a part of the bumper was located several feet away.

The driver fled the scene on foot while officers saw a female passenger inside the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital in unknown condition. Reports further added that the driver may have been injured in the accident. There is no description available about the driver at this time. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
