The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday morning. The accident happened on Northbound Highway 99 close to Lander Avenue at around 3:15 a.m.
A white sedan struck a Tesla while it was moving southward in the northbound lanes of Highway 99, north of Lander Avenue. After the collision, the white sedan caught fire, according to CHP.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time. According to CHP, alcohol seems to have contributed to the collision
When police arrived, they found a black Tesla with significant front-end damage blocking the first and second lanes of Highway 99 heading west. The white sedan was parked in the middle of the median with its right side facing south.
The fatal crash is being investigated.
