The Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash in Sunnyvale on Wednesday.
The accident happened On Highway 237 in the west, just east of Mathilda Avenue at around 6:50 p.m.
A 2007 Lexus ES 350 being driven by a 62-year-old woman who took her eyes off the road, looked back, saw that traffic had stopped, and hit the brakes, but crashed into the car in front of her.
The 61-year-old man was a passenger in the right rear of the Lexus with the woman, and at the time, he wasn’t using a seat belt.
According to the CHP, he ran into the back of the front passenger seat and was taken to Stanford Medical Center.
The passenger had passed away from his injuries at the hospital at around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday.
Further details regarding the fatal crash are not available.
