The Memphis Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday night in southeast Memphis.
The accident happened at the intersection of South Parkway East and South Third Street at around 5:30 p.m.
The Memphis Fire Department reported that it took rescue teams 30 minutes to extract the victims from the two smashed-up cars near the overpass.
According to MFD, three patients were transported in critical condition to nearby hospitals.
One person passed away before getting there.
The names and identities of the victims were not provided by the officials.
The fatal crash is being investigated by the authorities.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
