The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash on Saturday morning in San Pablo.
A black Honda CRV’s driver got out of his car but was killed by another vehicle after being hit. The damaged CRV ended up lying on its roof, upside down, in the middle of Interstate 80. Before CHP arrived on the scene, a number of additional vehicles collided with the overturned vehicle, but no additional injuries were reportedly suffered.
The name and identity of the victim have not been made public yet. It is not yet known if there were other people injured in the accident.
The fatal collision is being investigated by the officials.
I-80 eastbound was completely shut down for almost four hours due to the collision, cleanup, and investigation.
