The Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Monday.
The accident happened at Pat Mell Road and Austell Road at the intersection at around 6:46 p.m.
A Marietta man, 39, was operating a white 2022 Ford F-250 Super-Duty northbound in the right lane with a child with him.
A pedestrian, Derek Johnson, 32, stepped onto Austell Road and collided with the front end of the Ford.
Johnson was not in a clearly designated crosswalk. The force of the collision caused the victim to be thrown north of the road where he laer came to a rest.
Johnson was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of severe injuries where he died later.
The occupants of the vehicle are unharmed.
No additional details regarding the fatal crash are available.
