1 Person Died In A Motor Vehicle Crash In Chambers County (Chambers County, TX)

May 31, 2023 / Source: KHOU

The Chambers County Sheriff reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday morning. The accident happened east of Highway 61.

A trooper pulled over a suspected drunk driver, and a sheriff’s deputy followed suit to offer support. A second trooper then followed the sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle to offer assistance.

The trooper got out and started walking towards the alleged drunk driver when a van travelling at a high speed struck the DPS vehicle in the back. He was pinned between the deputy’s and the trooper’s vehicles after the impact pushed the trooper’s vehicle forward.

The van’s driver was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The trooper was flown to the medical centre with minor injuries. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.

The fatal crash is being investigated.
