On Tuesday night, one person was killed after a traffic collision on I-5 in Bellingham.
As per the initial information, the fatal multi-vehicle accident took place shortly before 11 p.m. on Interstate 5, south near Iowa Street. At this time, it is unknown how many people in total were involved in the wreck.
Just after the crash, one person came out of their car and was hit by another vehicle. Interstate 5 was fully shut down as responders worked at the scene. The road was back open at about 2 a.m. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.
The crash remains under investigation.
