One person was killed and several others were hospitalized after a fiery accident Wednesday night in Byron.
As per the initial information, the fatal crash took place at about 5:40 p.m. on Byron Highway and Camino Diablo. The preliminary reports showed that a vehicle rolled over and knocked down wires with a pole fire. On arrival, emergency responders found a vehicle fully covered in flames with wires down and a pole impacted.
They requested wildland fire since the vegetation caught fire estimated at 1/2 acre. A total of 8 patients were involved in the wreck. Four of them had to be hospitalized while the remaining victims were released at the scene. By 6:10 p.m., officers confirmed that the incident resulted in a fatality.
Officials announced a Sig Alert as Byron Highway at Camino Diablo was closed down in both directions. 5 AMR units also responded to the scene. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
