On early Wednesday, 1 person was killed in a car crash that brought traffic to a halt on Interstate 805 and State Route 94.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place on I-805. The preliminary reports showed that the driver of gold Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on SR-94 transitioning onto I-805 when the Ford swerved off the roadway following which it rolled onto I-805, throwing the driver from the SUV.
The driver was declared deceased at the scene by the authorities. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The SR-94 ramp and three southbound lanes of I-805 at Market Street were closed down as officers worked at the scene.
CHP has not yet released the identity of the deceased, but he was described as a Hispanic man around 40 years old. A toxicology report by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to help find out if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
