1 person dead, Charles French injured after a two-vehicle wreck in Shasta County (Shasta County, CA)

One person was killed and Charles French suffered injuries after a traffic collision Wednesday morning in Shasta County.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place at about 7:40 a.m. on Highway 299 near Whiskeytown Center. The preliminary reports showed that a big rig and a vehicle were involved in the collision. The investigation reports showed that an F-150 heading east went over the lines and slammed into a semi-truck.

The semi caught fire due to the crash. The driver managed to get out of the vehicle with no injuries. The F-150 driver, Charles French of Redding, was rushed to the hospital with major injuries while the passenger in the French’s truck died as a result of the accident. The fire did not spread to vegetation. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
