1 person dead after being hit by a train in North Hills (Los Angeles, CA)

One person was killed after getting hit by a train early Tuesday morning in Northridge.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place on the tracks near W. Roscoe Boulevard and Balboa Boulevard in Northridge at about 5:40 a.m. The victim was declared dead at the scene by the responding officers. The Metrolink train 100, on the Ventura County Line, was stopped just approximately 100 yards away from crash scene.

Metrolink announced a brief stoppage of the train following the incident. There were about 40 passengers on the train at the time of the crash. No other details are available at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
