1 person dead after a vehicle went into the water in Yolo County (Yolo County, CA)

One person was killed after a vehicle went into the water Thursday afternoon in Yolo County.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at about 4:09 p.m. along Jefferson Boulevard near Pumphouse Road. On arrival, emergency responders found an SUV submerged into Babel Slough. Officials confirmed that the person pulled from the vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A dog was also rescued and is being treated.

No one else was inside the vehicle at that time. The road where that crash happened was shut down for at least two more hours during the investigation. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
