1 person dead after a two-vehicle crash in southwest Houston; alcohol believed to be a factor (Houston, TX)

One person was killed following a two-vehicle collision in southwest Houston while officers arrested one person on suspicion of DWI.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place moments after 3:30 a.m. in the 9200 block of Bellaire in Sharpstown. The preliminary reports showed that a maroon-colored SUV collided with a Ford Explorer. The driver of the Ford Explorer suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.

The driver of the maroon colored-SUV was arrested. Alcohol is believed to be involved in the crash. Officers reported that multiple blocks did not have lights working properly, possibly due to the rain. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
