1 person dead after a two-vehicle collision southeast of Toppenish (Toppenish, WA)

On Saturday evening, a two-vehicle accident took the life of one person southeast of Toppenish.

As per the initial information, the fatal crash took place at around 6:30 p.m. The preliminary investigation showed that a driver going south on Meyers Road in a 2012 Hyundai Elantra ran a stop sign and crashed into a 2019 Peterbilt traveling west on State Route 22. The semi-truck was pulling two trailers at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Elantra suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. It is unclear if the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck. The authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
