On Tuesday evening, one person was killed after a pickup truck went into a pond near Fruitport.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place before 7 p.m. in the 1800 block of East Stenberg Road near Harvey Street in Fruitport Township. The preliminary reports showed that a pickup truck plunged into the pond and the driver was pinned inside. On arrival, a dive team recovered the driver’s body from the water.
The victim was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. The Fruitport Fire Department, Muskegon fire dive team and Norton Shores dive team responded to the scene. No other details are immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation.
