1 person dead after a pedestrian crash in Encinitas (Encinitas, CA)

One person was killed after getting hit by an Amtrak train Sunday in Encinitas.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to Leucadia Boulevard grade crossing at about 10:52 a.m. on reports of a pedestrian crash. The early reports showed that a pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak train.

On arrival, responders found the person who was declared dead. The manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No further details are available.

The incident remains under review.
