1 person dead after a multi-vehicle accident on I-5 north in Tacoma (Tacoma, WA)

On Friday morning, one person was killed while several others suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle wreck in Tacoma.

As per the initial information, the fatal seven-vehicle pile-up took place on I-5 northbound at South 38th Street. The early reports showed that five cars and two semi-trucks were involved in the wreck. Responders confirmed that there were seven patients at the scene and one person died as a result of the collision.

Reports further added that one person suffered critical injuries while two people are in serious condition. One was taken to a hospital as a precaution and two were provided medical aid and released at the scene. A driver of one of the semi-trucks was taken into custody on DUI charges. The incident led to the closure of I-5 northbound at South 38th Street. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
